Job DescriptionLocation: Chicago, ILHospital: Rush University Medical CenterDepartment: Revenue Cycle Decision SupportWork Type: Full Time (Total FTE between 0.9 and 1.0)Shift: Shift 1Work Schedule: 8 Hr (8:00:00 AM - 4:00:00 PM)Rush offers exceptional rewards and benefits learn more at our Rush benefits page .Summary:Lead improvement activities which are strategically aligned with the organizational goals using accepted improvement methodologies including: measurement, analysis, development of improvement plan, and the reporting of project results. Establish strong working relationships with interdisciplinary members of the health care team including: the medical staff, nursing and other operational areas, administration, and support services. Develop and present data including: executive summary reports, balanced score cards, and other reporting formats via committee structures as assigned. This position encompasses project management, consultation, facilitation, data abstraction, analytics and interpretation. Three years’ experience in a health care setting as well as experience in Management Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Performance Improvement or equivalent. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access, Visio, and QI Macros. Ability to work on multiple large projects simultaneously. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills. Proven facilitation of teams and projects and demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills.Preferred Job Qualifications: Master's Degree. Certifications: Green Belt/Black Belt. Functions as a performance improvement expert.

Manages, plans and executes all performance improvement activities utilizing the RUMC performance improvement methodologies.

Provides consultation regarding best practices with emphasis on process reengineering and systemic implementation.

Utilizing change management principles, partners with process owners to facilitate successful project pilots and implementation.

Creates, monitors and reports metrics/dashboards related to improvement activities.

Partners with analysts and auditors to extract and analyze data.

Serves as liaison with key stakeholders on tasks, deliverables and issues regarding improvement initiatives.

Provides training and education to all levels of the medical center on RUMC's performance improvement methodology.

Maintains knowledge of current trends with the performance improvement community by participating in local, regional and national training conferences, web conferences, and other available modes.

Collaborates with medical staff and hospital departments to develop standardized care paths and/or standing orders and policies for identified performance improvement initiatives based on best practice and national benchmark data.

Utilizes literature and comparative benchmarking data to identify best practices and specific areas of opportunity by focusing improvement initiatives on the effective management of the cost and quality of patient care.

Performs detailed root cause analysis of adverse events and near misses or other identified improvement initiatives.

Supports the development of measurable end state vision for performance improvement using tools such as lean six sigma, statistical significance, operational control limits, etc.
