Hub is looking for a National Director of Licensing and Compliance who will play an important role in improving and centralizing HUB’s insurance producer licensing requirements in the U.S. This person will be fully supported by the other members of the Legal and Compliance Departments.Job Duties:
Create and lead a centralized U.S. licensing team with an initial focus on supporting U.S. Retail, but eventually expanding into E&S, wholesale and all US lines of business.
Evaluate existing, decentralized licensing staff and consider multiple options for building a centralized team including redeploying qualified members to form the new virtual, centralized team. Propose centralization plan and projected staffing / budgetary needs to COOs, Presidents, and EMT. Determine size / scope of team required to assist and support the business with licensing and compliance
Provide knowledgeable and consistent support to our licensed staff.
Influence and determine the scope of services to be provided nationally in phases (Licensing administration, renewals, applications, CE tracking, contracting and appointments, carrier portal management, M&A integration and compliance, Surplus Lines compliance and Surplus Lines tax filings)
Improve use of our platforms, workflows and processes, including our insurance producer management and licensing platform (currently AgentSync).
Enable a strategic review of licensing to help ensure that necessary staff are properly licensed and that any unnecessary licenses are not continued.
Ensure personal credentials and confidential information are handled responsibly
Socialize and roll out a refreshed policy for all of HUB with enhanced training / awareness efforts to clarify HUB’s standards and provide additional guidance on definitions and exceptions.
Maintain up to date compliance expertise, skills and competency regarding evolving laws, state insurance regulations, guidance, and directives impacting HUB’s licensing requirements.
Team with Legal to respond to and resolve questions from cross-functional stakeholders related to licensing requirements.
Education: B.A. degree, requiredExperience:The candidate should have the following background and attributes:
Substantial knowledge of and experience with leading a licensing function and the ability to build and manage a diverse team of producer licensing administration professionals.
Considerable experience working for an insurance broker, carrier or other company in the insurance industry.
5+ years in a managerial position driving results and taking initiative creating and implementing new processes.
Good understanding of state-based insurance regulations and experience communicating with state insurance regulatory agencies.
Ability to think strategically, drive national projects, and manage towards established goals.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as strong time management and organization skills.
Experience with in-house software use of AgentSync or similar licensing database and renewal management tool.
Ability to identify requirements to meet new company initiatives and determine the most effective plan for meeting business needs and regulatory requirements.
Experience working effectively within a team oriented collaborative organization.
Vendor management experience a plus.
License/Certifications: - State-based insurance credential ideal but not required.
