From conducting flight safety investigations and educating pilots on potential safety threats to implementing medical programs and helping prevent employee injuries, our team is instrumental in running a safe and successful airline for our customers and employees.Key Responsibilities:The overall objective with having a Manager of Safety Data Analytics is driven by high demand for analytical support and safety intelligence across United. Such as supporting teams both internal and external to Corporate Safety, for example, Aviation Safety, Operations Safety, Operations Risk, Corporate Medical, and operating groups and Safety teams across the company. This role will lead a team of data analysts who are subject matter experts for corporate safety data analytics and predictive insight execution.
Leads a small team of data analyst responsible for analyzing safety and operational data for key leadership presentations and meetings, such as FAA meetings, Board of Directors, SMS meetings, and ad-hoc requests.
Partner and collaborate with teams within Corporate Safety for analytical support, such as Operations Safety, Operations Risk, Corporate Medical, and Aviation Safety. Depending on the area of focus, activities could include analyzing historical data, building models, helping to establish metrics or key performance indicators, analyzing root-causes or casual factors, maybe even building slide decks and presentations.
Partner and collaborate with other United teams for analytical support, such as operating groups (Airport Ops, Inflight, TechOps, Network Ops, etc), ops analysis teams, Analytics & Innovation, and other support teams.
Track and provide status reporting of work assignments, projects, programs. Define, prioritize, allocate resources, track and provide status reporting of work assignments, projects, programs. Depending on the team they are supporting, they might help design dashboards, reports, or even presentations with key business insights help to drive safety improvements and better data driven decision making across United.
Communicate and share updates with senior leadership and key collaborators. Activities could include updates during the early stages of defining the analytical problem, when finalizing dashboards or presentations for upcoming leadership meetings, such as slides for a Board of Directors (BOD) meeting or other safety related meetings.
Support industry efforts, such as participating in industry working groups and Collaborative Research Environments (CREs). This role will most likely participate in an industry effort to create (CREs) where airlines, industry groups, and regulators bring analytical resources together to solve complex safety issues.
Role requires some domestic and international travel (10%)

Bachelor's degree in business administration, computer science, data science, information systems, engineering, or another quantitative field (i.e. mathematics, statistics, economics, finance, etc.)
4+ years experience in business intelligence, analytics, and/or related analytical role
1+ year(s) experience in a leadership/supervisory role preferred
Experience working with data, including experience working with large data sets
Some proficiency with coding and data queries, using both traditional and modern technologies/languages (i.e. Python, SQL, HTML, Javascript, Power Automate, Spark Node, PowerBI, Spotfire, and Foundry)
Ability to study/understand business needs, and the ability to design a data strategy and develop solutions to solve those business needs
Ability to prepare presentations for senior leadership and interact with all levels of management
Demonstrated proficiency in analysis and project management, as well as effective communication capabilities
1-4 years working with complex data (data analytics, information science, data visualization or other relevant quantitative field)
