Job DescriptionLocation: Chicago, ILHospital: RUSH University Medical CenterDepartment: Road Home Research AdminWork Type: Full Time (Total FTE between 0.9 and 1.0)Shift: Shift 1Work Schedule: 8 HrSummary:The clinician will assess and treat survivors of trauma – in particular those impacted by gun violence – as part of a new Rush clinic focused on providing high quality care to this population. All care management and mental health treatment services are provided at no cost to the patient, providing an opportunity to have a positive impact on underserved populations. The clinician will receive training and provide short-term individual evidence-based therapy and/or care management services. A unique aspect of this role is that clinicians will be trained to provide evidence-based therapy services more frequently than once per week (i.e., accelerated format), which has been demonstrated to lead to more rapid symptom and functional improvements. The clinician will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and collaborate with psychologists, social workers, counselors, and other medical providers across multiple departments at Rush. This position will exemplify the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.Responsibilities:

Assesses clients who present themselves for care in an outpatient setting.

Provides short term, evidence-based treatment with the goal of individual healing and empowerment and improved overall functioning.

Prepares intake summaries, treatment plans and case summaries while maintaining on-going confidential records.

Develops, implements and evaluates treatment approaches for clients, including accelerated therapeutic modalities.

Documents treatment and progress in the electronic health record in a timely manner in accordance with state and other regulations and in keeping with accepted community standards.

Confers and consults with medical providers regarding client's progress and treatment; this may include conferring with attending physicians regarding hospitalized clients regarding recommendations for treatment plans.

Utilizes resources within the community that clients to meet the needs of the client's treatment goals. These community resources will offer options for referrals to external resources for the client.

Participates in development, implementation and evaluation of programs within the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Rush.

Performs related duties as required.

Other information:Required Job Qualifications: Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology or Applied Behavioral Science required. Current State of Illinois licensure as LCSW required. Two years of previous social work experience in healthcare, care management, mental health and/or social services Excellent interpersonal skills and solid knowledge of community resources, demonstrated organizational skills. Ability to assess patient and family needs, able to ask appropriate questions.Preferred Job Qualifications: In-depth experience working with patient groups. Experience with evidence based therapies. Strong active listening, critical thinking, judgment and decision making skills. Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. Proficiency with MS Office Suite. Ability to sense problems or potential problems. Ability to apply inductive and deductive reasoning to information received and identifying relationships between seemingly unrelated events/information.
