The Genetic Counseling Assistant reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.The Division of Reproductive Genetics and Fertility Medicine is seeking a full-time genetic counseling assistant to work with our Prenatal and Genetics teams. The individual in this position will work as part of an established team of genetic counselors, clinical geneticists, and medical subspecialists.Responsibilities:Learn the genetic testing and billing processes and answer patient questions pertaining to the processComplete insurance preauthorization requests in online portalsMail or fax requested medical records requested by insurance providers and patientsPrepare testing requisition forms for 100 patients per weekObtaining 3 generation pedigreeCall and/or send MyChart messages with results for 125 patients per weekMonitor shared Genetics email accountUpload patient records to EPICOrganize and manage ordering of test kits for labReview upcoming patient schedules to ensure team has necessary recordsOrganize and triage the genetics referral queuePrepare requested letters of medical necessityContact laboratories to request amendments to incorrect reportsOther duties as assigned
