Offers may vary depending on the circumstances of each case.Summary:This position provides the highest level of support and leadership for development, fundraising, donor relations and Advisory Board development for the Rush NeuroBehavioral Center (RNBC). This position also provides leadership to support the Center’s marketing efforts. This individual maintains the engagement of current donors, as well as developing and expanding a new donor base. The incumbent will provide strong leadership throughout the Center and within the community to increase philanthropic support for RNBC. The [Development Position] may at times have an Associate or Project Coordinator as a direct report, but will be mainly focused on managing projects focused on donor relations, fundraising, and Advisory Board support and development. The incumbent is assertive and proactive, comfortable working with varying levels of leadership and staff, as well as with donors and friends of the Center. The incumbent finds professional success and satisfaction in providing direct, but behind-the-scenes support for a greater cause. Exemplifies the Rush Mission, Vision and Values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures, including compliance with all Rush University Medical Group Customer Service and Performance Standards.Required Job Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree. Five years of development experience, preferably in a hospital or university setting, with significant experience in major gift fundraising. Demonstrated success in identifying and cultivating major prospects with the capacity of $25,000 or more. Superior writing skills that allow for clear, concise, and persuasive written communications for both internal and external audiences. Highly proficient in MS Office suite, including mail merge, document editing/review, building Excel workbooks using sorting, formatting, and equation functions, and developing engaging and effective PowerPoint presentations. Proficiency with the use of fundraising software and donor databases. Genuine and effective interpersonal communication to develop and maintain effective relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including donors and Advisory Board members. Ability to coordinate the needs and interests of many constituencies, including three program directors, Advisory Board members, and Rush’s Office of Philanthropy and Marketing Department.Preferred Job Qualifications: Experience with feasibility studies. Working knowledge of HIPAA fundraising guidelines.Responsibilities:

Works closely with RNBC’s Executive Committee to develop an annual development plan with overall fundraising goals, provide fundraising expertise, and oversee the development plan, aligning staff efforts and other resources to accomplish plan goals.

Manages portfolio of 75 to 100 major gift prospects and donors. Develops and implements prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies.

Writes principal and major gift proposals, reports, gift acknowledgments and other cultivation materials.

Works in partnership with RNBC leadership and Advisory Board on prospect strategies, hosting periodic prospect assignment and strategy sessions.

Builds a portfolio of grateful patient prospects and identify their philanthropic interests at RNBC.

Cultivates and maintains engagement of RNBC’s existing giving community, including the Advisory Board, Leadership Council and Friends of the Center to increase the number of Center affiliations.

Monitors and tracks overall development and fund activities.

Participates in educational and association membership activities for professional growth and development.

Manages and supports the volunteer Advisory Board, defining philanthropic goals and strategies in close collaboration with the Executive Director; this includes planning agendas and timing of regular meetings.

Works closely with the Advisory Board chair to monitor processes and progress, manages member communication and prepares appropriate reports.

Leads the Advisory Board Development Committee in strategic planning, special stewardship initiatives, fundraising appeals and donor prospecting.

Assists with identifying, recruiting and cultivating prospective Advisory Board members.

Maintains the Advisory Board Handbook, including agendas, minutes, committee reports, contact information, financial statements, staff updates and RNBC outreach program and event information.

Develops and balances annual budgets in collaboration with the Operations Manager and Business Analyst.

Serves on the RNBC Executive Committee, providing donor-relation and Advisory Board management perspectives on strategic issues and decisions.

Develops and manages an operating plan for RNBC’s development and communication activities.

Provides leadership and strategic vision to staff responsible for website development and maintenance, marketing materials for programs and services, liaising with Rush’s Media Relations team and a monthly e-Newsletter.

Performs related duties as required.
