Job Title:Academic Specialist - Center for Academic ExcellenceDepartment:College of NursingShift:1stFull/Part:Active Regular PT (40 to 71 hours per pay period)Specialty:Job Number:2020-2534Job Description:Academic Specialist - Center for Academic ExcellencePosition Highlights:In conjunction with the Manager, Center for Academic Excellence, the Academic Specialist is responsible for one-on-one and group writing and/or mathematical instruction of Rush master and doctoral candidates campus-wide. Under the Manager, Center for Academic Excellence's supervision, the Academic Specialist will work directly with Program Directors, Advisors, and Deans from each college to provide graduate-level instruction based on the needs of each academic program. Instruction provided includes scholarly writing, proper citation style, and presentation of statistical data for course papers and master and doctorial theses.Position Responsibilities:Participate in an orientation program to Peer Tutoring provided by the College of Nursing.
Assess learning needs of tutee(s).
Initiate learning sessions with the assigned tutees.
Collaboratively plan and implement learning sessions with assigned tutee(s).
Provide two to four hours of tutelage per week.
Communicate to the Director of Generalist Education the progress and learning plan for the assigned tutees.
Participate in the evaluation of the Peer Tutor program.
Complete other assignments as designated by the Director of Generalist Education or their designee.
Position Qualifications Include:Current enrollment in a College of Nursing pre-licensure program
Recommendation of course faculty.
Performed at a B' or better for the course they will tutor
