Educating children, and working in partnership with families, combined with highly qualified teachers, will provide children with experiences that will help them grow as individuals and prepare them for the future.

Tia Corazoncito Learning Center is a unique and multi-faceted learning center that will offer children the opportunity to construct knowledge, develop creativity and self-expression, build healthy self-esteem, and engage in meaningful relationships with others outside of family life during episodes of play and learning. Our aim of education in the preschool is the development of all aspects of the child: intellectual, social, emotional and creative within the context of a caring multicultural community. General Requirements for Personnel

Staff shall be able to demonstrate the skill and competence necessary to contribute to each child's physical, intellectual, personal, emotional, and social development. Factors contributing to the attainment of this standard include:

1. Reputable and responsible character;

2. Emotional maturity when working with children;

3. Cooperation with the purposes and services of the program;

4. Respect for children and adults;

5. Flexibility, understanding and patience;

6. Physical and mental health that do not interfere with child care responsibilities;

7. Good personal hygiene;

8. Frequent interaction with children;

9. Listening skills, availability and responsiveness to children;

10. Sensitivity to children's socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds, and individual needs and capabilities;

11. Use of positive discipline and guidance techniques;

12. Ability to provide an environment in which children can feel comfortable, relaxed, happy and involved in play, recreation and other activities.

13. Skills to help children meet their developmental and emotional needs;

14. Skills in planning, directing, and conducting programs that meet the children’s basic needs.

15. Participate in 15 clock hours of in-service training per year;

16. Become members of the Gateways to Opportunity Registry, with all educational and training credentials entered into the registry verified in accordance with procedures and requirements adopted by the Department of Human Services.

Tia Corazoncito Learning Center require the following staff qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Special Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Must pass a Criminal Investigation check.

Must pass a T.B. test

Must be able to obtain American Red Cross First Aid and CPR certifications within 60 days of hire and keep them current throughout employment.

Must be able to obtain a Food Handlers Permit with 30 days of hire (Optional).

Must be willing and available to work morning, afternoon, evening, weekend, and

holiday Shifts, EXCEPT SATURDAY.

Bilingual ( Spanish & English Fluent Speakers Preferred )

Qualifications for Child Care Director:

Be at least 21 years of age.

Have a high school diploma or equivalency certificate (GED).

Sixty semester or 90 quarter hours of credit from an accredited college or university with 18 semester or 27 quarter hours in courses related directly to child care and/or child development from birth to age 6.

One year of teaching experience.

Must successfully complete a basic training course of 6 or more clock hours on providing care to children with disabilities that has been approved by the Department.

Qualifications for Early Childhood Teachers and School-age Workers:

Be at least 19 years of age.

Have a high school diploma or equivalency certificate (GED).

Sixty semester hours of credits from an accredited college or university with six semester or nine quarter hours in courses related directly to child care and/or child development, from birth to age six, or

One year of child development experience in a nursery school, kindergarten, or licensed day care center and 30 semester hours of credits from an accredited college or university with six semester in courses related directly to child care and/or child development, from birth to age six, or

Completion of credentialing programs approved by the Department.

Probationary Periods:

The introductory period is intended to give new employees the opportunity to demonstrate their ability to achieve a satisfactory level of performance and to determine whether the new position meets their expectations. A Tia Corazoncito Learning Center uses this period to evaluate employee capabilities, work habits, and overall performance. Either the employee or a Tia Corazoncito Learning Center may end the employment relationship at will and at any time during or after the introductory period with just cause to be documented and explained in a written notice to be signed by both parties.

All new and rehired employees work on an introductory basis for the first ninety (90) calendar days after their date of hire. Any significant absence will automatically extend an introductory period by the length of the absence. If Tia Corazoncito Learning Center determines that the designated introductory period does not allow sufficient time to thoroughly evaluate the employee’s performance the introductory period may be extended for a special period.

Upon satisfactory completion of the introductory period, employees enter the established employment classification for their position. A formal performance evaluation will be conducted at the end of employee’s initial period of hire, known as the introductory period (90 days).

Volunteers:

Meet all standards that apply to an employed person in that position.

Teachers may be hired with six completed units and must complete two units each semester until the education requirement is met.

Promotions:

Wage increase will depend on how quickly you can get your required hours, job performance and evaluation.
