Job Summary

Bookkeeping / Assistant Property Management for Small Property Management Company

Responsibilities and Duties

The Bookkeeper being hired for this position will be trained and work with a team responsible for the bookkeeping and accounting for a group of residential rental properties. Position is located in Wilmette.

Responsibilities

Provide basic accounting, bookkeeping and operational support under direct supervision. This will include accounts payable, accounts receivable, statement reconciliation, journal entries, general ledger, and monthly, quarterly and year end reporting.

Examine accounting records, prepare basic accounting, bookkeeping and reports.

Provide statements and reports to tenants.

Communicate with tenants to discuss and answer accounting & bookkeeping questions.

Meet service expectations by maintaining positive tenant communications.

Maintain current knowledge of local, state, and federal practices and laws.

Qualifications

Three (3) + year experience in accounting and/or bookkeeping. Professional services and experience working in an office setting preferred.

Knowledge of accounting, bookkeeping and payroll principles related to classifying, recording, and summarizing data and making computations to compile and keep financial records.

Computer skills and knowledge, including Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook.

A desire to work independently with tenants, and ability to work with multiple tenants simultaneously.

Ability to provide exceptional service and exhibit a sense of urgency to complete work in a timely manner.

Ability to prioritize work flow and coordinate activities as needed, as well as communicate effectively with others and work in a team environment.

A professional demeanor and the ability to handle matters confidentially.

Keen sense of accuracy and attention to detail, and demonstrate ability to follow directions and procedures.

Qualifications and Skills

A. Must be computer proficient in all basic computer programs (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and able to learn customized programs

B. Must be able to take organized notes

C. Clear writing and good communication

D. Must be able to maintain a paper copy as well as a digital set of books

E. Up to date with basic office management including how to place ads, answer emails with tenant concerns, work with janitorial and assistant managers to insure good communication as well as a high standard of building maintenance.

Necessary Qualities:

A. Must be self-motivated, organized, a problem solver, and focused.

B. Positive attitude and good at following direction.

C. Good Organizational Skills are appreciated

D. Must have excellent customer service and people skills.

Education:

A. Bachelor's degree is required for this job

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
