Illinois electrical workers are expected to be busy for the next several years. There’s plenty of commercial, industrial, institutional and utility work happening in many areas of the state, but the two huge regional focuses for our members are the ‘economic engine’ of Chicagoland, and the St. Louis areas.
We’re working on several large projects like the $9 billion, 8-year expansion at O’Hare International Airport. We expect lots of work from a $1.4 billion, 3.5-year fertilizer plant project that will employ 1,500 workers in the construction phase. And we have large solar projects coming out of the ground.
Prospects are also excellent for line construction throughout Illinois. Additionally, there are many ongoing maintenance contracts.
We offer strong healthcare and retirement plans, and total Journeyman electrician pay and benefit packages ranging from approximately $35 to $84 per hour.
