The OpportunityWe currently have an opportunity for a Multi-Craft Mechanic III within our Transfusion Medicine division based out of Abbott Park, IL.Abbott Transfusion Medicine is a global leader in vitro diagnostics and offers a broad range of innovative instrument systems and tests for hospitals, reference labs, blood banks, and clinics. Our products offer automation, convenience, cost-effectiveness, and flexibility.What you’ll work on:

Repairs and Maintenance: Perform routine and complex repairs and maintenance on production equipment, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, plastic/metal fabrication, equipment repair, and installation of parts.

Process Improvement: Initiate, facilitate, and supervise the setup and improvement of business processes following project management and Lean principles. Drive the conversion of business processes/requirements into system processes and organize support on the systems used in the US & CALA Customer Service organization.

Collaboration: Work closely with the BPI team and peers and end-users located in Europe, APAC, and the US/CALA.

Preventative Maintenance: Manage daily assigned routine preventative maintenance tasks on equipment/facilities, determine repairs needed to prevent unsafe conditions or to comply with Company and/or Agency rules and regulations (e.g., fillers/labelers, printers).

Alarm Response: Respond to alarm or trouble calls as required and maintain a strong floor presence. Function as a member of the ADD/ATM Maintenance Team and assist as necessary to accomplish production goals and throughput initiatives.

Troubleshooting: Address production stop situations, troubleshoot causes of malfunction in equipment, and participate in implementing corrective actions to prevent re-occurrence.

Equipment Knowledge: Maintain good knowledge of equipment in the production area (including setup and operation). Attend applicable training to maintain consistent service to production equipment/areas of focus.

External Assistance: Escort and assist outside repair persons in the performance of their duties in production areas as necessary.

Record Keeping: Maintain appropriate records of work, keep inventory of spare parts and materials, and provide the Supervisor with needed information associated with parts or special materials neededto effectively perform repairs on all equipment.

Education and Experience You’ll Bring:Required:

High School Diploma or GED.

2-year Mechanical/Electrical technical degree or equivalent experience.

Hands-on electrical or mechanical skills.

Troubleshooting electrical and/or mechanical filling, packaging equipment, and utilities.

Making machine adjustments and timing mechanical systems for proper operation.

Electrical/mechanical skills with utility systems.

Machining or welding parts.

Reading blueprints and schematics.

Experience with pumps, motors, and drives.

Knowledge of the use of precision tools/instruments.
