Position Type: Full-time hourly, remote

Hours per week: 32-40

Pay: $22-$25/hour DOE

The Position:

Our Content Writer will create content for multiple channels including blogs, articles, product descriptions, social media, and the company website. The Content Writer’s responsibilities include evaluating analytics to adjust content as needed and promoting the company in its various marketing channels. An ideal candidate will have prior experience with journalism, developing content, following editorial guidelines when creating content, and keeping abreast of the latest SEO techniques. Selected incumbent will consider content from a holistic standpoint—systems, platforms, and channels—to create a unified user experience. This position will be flexible; hours can vary as needed and work can be done remotely but is only available to current Washington state residents. However, employees must be available during normal business hours (PST) for monthly company meetings, when training for new projects, or when otherwise requested by their managers (with notice given). This role will report to a designated Senior Product Manager.

Specific Responsibilities & Key Deliverables:

● Support Content Managers and Product Managers to execute content initiatives

● Conduct in-depth research, including interviews, on industry-related topics in order to develop original content

● Write clear, original copy about various education topics, often owning larger content projects from beginning to end

● Conduct competitive research to inform your tone and voice

● Ensure all content is consistent in terms of style and optimized for search and user experience

● Edit and optimize existing content as well as writing from other writers

● Lead content review sessions

● Contribute to the development of strategies that will increase user engagement

● Consistently build and maintain product knowledge for each project/assignment

● Active participant of cross-functional team, ensuring all personal deliverables and deadlines are achieved or exceeded

Experience & Competencies Required for Success:

● BA/BS Degree

● 2-5+ years of professional experience in content writing or online content creation/management

● Demonstrated writing and editing skills, with a mastery of grammar and tone

● Strong strategic thinking, business partnering, and presentation skills

● Proficient in taking complex ideas and succinctly summarizing into easily understood content

● A good home office set-up and access to reliable internet (or co-working space or other adequate set-up for remote work)We will provide computer equipment, etc

● Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail

● Ability to multitask and work independently

● Strong communication skills

● Comfort with repetitive tasks

● Technically proficient with experience in Microsoft Office

● Ability to adapt to & learn new systems/programs quickly

● SEO experience a plus

● Clear track record of getting things done in timely & efficient manner

● Ability to remain flexible, juggle multiple priorities, & change directions as needed

● Applicants with published work preferred

● Journalism experience preferred

We are working remotely during COVID but continue to find ways to support one another and connect while working from home and have opened this Writer/Editor position up to be permanently remote from anywhere in Washington.
