If you are a current or temporary State of Idaho employee you MUST apply through your internal Luma account.Idaho Transportation Department is recruiting for a temporary Transportation Technician in Kooskia, Idaho. This temporary position will provide support to keep our highways safe and clear. Idaho Transportation Department is seeking individuals who are hardworking and interested in seasonal employment. These individuals need to be self-motivated and able to work well independently as well as with a team to provide a high-quality service. A Class B (or greater) CDL is required and training will be provided to operate the equipment.Incumbents are required to work in all weather conditions, under hazardous conditions, on obstructed roads and congested highways, in considerable noise, around operating equipment, and with hazardous materials. This position is non-benefited and could work up to 40 hours per week for up to 5 months. The minimum wage for this position is $18.55. Example of DutiesThis position will focus ontraffic control/flaggingbut could also include:

Operating a loaded tanker truck or shadow vehicle safely;

Working near chemicals and toxic materials;

Perform entry-level technical highway maintenance work;

Some data entry as needed for diary, time entry etc;

May operate a variety of power tools and light and heavy highway equipment to maintain roadways, signs, bridges and other transportation facilities;

Perform entry-level traffic services activities such as replacing and repairing traffic signs and posts;

Snow removal;

Vegetation and/or litter removal from highway;

Painting and/or striping highways;

Performs related work as required.

Supplemental InformationEssential Function: An essential function of this position is driving an ITD vehicle. Incumbents are required to successfully pass a driving record check to be considered for this position. The incumbent will not be considered for this position if the following violations have occurred within the set timeframes: Minimum Standards: Within the last three (3) years:

Leaving the scene of a personal injury accident

Four (4) moving violations

Failure to submit to a chemical test

Within the last two (2) years:

Three (3) moving violations

Within the last twelve (12) months:

Accumulation of six (6) points

Driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs

Two (2) moving violations

ALCOHOL AND CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES TESTING PROGRAM INFORMATION The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) is required to implement an Alcohol and Controlled Substance Program to comply with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR), Part 382.
