Job Description: The Heavy Equipment Excavation Lead will be responsible for overseeing daily operations on excavation projects, ensuring that work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications. This role requires leadership skills, technical knowledge, and hands-on experience with heavy equipment operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate the activities of excavation crews, ensuring project timelines and safety standards are met.
Operate excavators of various sizes for digging, trenching, loading, and grading tasks.
Efficiently and cleanly load trucks, manage material exports, and oversee trucking operations.
Safely excavate and shore trenches using trench boxes, manhole boxes, and hydraulic speed shoring.
Excavate, bed, and backfill utility piping and conduit.
Perform complex tasks in tight working conditions or restricted spaces
Conduct pre-operational equipment checks and ensure equipment is maintained in good working order.
Monitor project progress, adjust plans as needed, and report on daily production.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, and office staff
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in heavy equipment operation and excavation. Plumbing knowledge desired but not mandatory
Proven leadership experience, including managing teams in an excavation setting.
Strong knowledge of excavation techniques, equipment, and safety practices.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Ability to problem-solve and make decisions under pressure.
