Electrical Estimator & Department Manager – Home Services & Light Comm

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Estimator & Department Manager to lead our electrical division, specializing in both residential and light commercial services. This role is responsible for estimating, bidding, and overseeing electrical projects while ensuring profitability, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and experience in electrical estimating and project management.

Key Responsibilities:

Estimating & Sales:

Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for residential and light commercial electrical projects, including service upgrades, panel replacements, wiring, lighting, and system installations.

Conduct site visits to assess project requirements and provide detailed proposals to customers and contractors.

Develop cost-effective solutions for homeowners, builders, and business owners.

Maintain a pipeline of potential projects and follow up on outstanding proposals.

Department Management:

Oversee the daily operations of the electrical department, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to company standards.

Lead, mentor, and manage a team of electricians and apprentices.

Ensure compliance with local, state, and national electrical codes and safety regulations.

Coordinate with other departments (HVAC, plumbing, etc.) for multi-trade projects.

Financial & Operational Responsibilities:

Track project costs, profitability, and department performance metrics.

Assist in setting department goals, budgets, and pricing strategies.

Manage vendor relationships and negotiate pricing for materials and subcontractors.

Ensure proper scheduling and dispatching of electrical service calls and projects.

Customer Service & Quality Assurance:

Maintain excellent communication with residential and commercial clients, addressing concerns and ensuring high customer satisfaction.

Conduct quality control checks to uphold company standards.

Handle escalated customer service issues as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Minimum 5+ years of experience in electrical estimating and project management for residential and light commercial work.

Journeyman or Master Electrician license (preferred but not required).

Proven leadership experience managing teams and electrical projects.

Strong knowledge of NEC codes, local regulations, and commercial building standards.

Proficiency in estimating software and CRM tools.

Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
