Agency Information: ICBVI is a state agency which has been serving Idahoans since 1967. The agency assists blind and visually impaired persons to achieve independence by providing education, developing work skills, increasing self-confidence, and helping them remain employed or prepare for employment. Our mission is to empower persons who are blind or visually impaired by providing vocational rehabilitation, skills training, and educational opportunities to achieve self-fulfillment through quality employment and independent living. Position Overview: Reader/Drivers are temporary staff that assist blind and low vision ICBVI staff members. They drive ICBVI teachers and counselors to client appointments at their homes. This position may also assist with reading and scribe tasks. Job Duties:

Report to work on time and adhere to standard work procedures and safety protocols

Act in a professional and courteous manner around staff, clients and the public

Adhere to confidentiality standards of client information and data

Obey all traffic laws and rules

Follow ICBVI vehicle/fleet policies and guidelines

Able to travel locally, and/or drive to locations several hours away in all terrains and weather conditions

Maintain vehicle travel logs and documentation

Fuel and clean vehicles as needed at the end of every shift

May need to lift items of 20 – 30 pounds

Accompany ICBVI staff into client's home

Assist ICBVI staff with collection and distribution of more physically demanding aides and appliances such as CCTV’s

Assist ICBVI staff with reading written information, filling out forms, and other general tasks as needed, either in the field or in the office

Complete timesheets daily and code according to correct ICBVI program.

Review ICBVI email on a routine basis

Notify ICBVI Reader/Driver Supervisor of any traffic infractions received during work or personal time

Attend required training and staff meetings

Perform other tasks as assigned

Must be able to provide valid Idaho Driver’s License and current driving record

Minimum Qualifications:

Valid State Driver’s License- Must have or willing to obtain a valid state driver's license.

Follow written and oral instructions-Typically gained by 6 months of work experience where your work required that you be able to follow written and oral instructions in teaching.

Read and write English- Must be able to read and write English fluently.

Experience with Microsoft Office Program-T ypically gained by successful completion of training in the use of Microsoft Office programs, including, Outlook, Word, and Excel; OR at least six (6) months of work experience using these programs as a frequent part of the job.
