We are a true farm-to-table company with an integrated portfolio including food processing and food brands, phosphate mining, fertilizer manufacturing, farming, ranching and cattle production, and other enterprises related to agriculture.SummaryThis role supports the Agronomic Sciences Team in field trialing and seed production efforts at Simplot Plant Sciences, where the goal is to genetically improve potato and other crops through biotechnology and breeding. This position requires a highly motivated individual to work in conjunction with research agronomists to implement, maintain and manage multiple field trialing studies. The candidate would preferably have experience in applied agricultural science and or potato/row crop production. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team, communicate effectively, maintain a high level of attention to detail and actively participate in discussions and meetings. A demonstrated competency in agronomy, horticulture, plant pathology, or soil fertility would be desirable.Key Responsibilities

Participate in all facets of project work including logistics, planning, coordination, and inventory management.

Responsible for implementation, and maintenance of small plot research trialing in coordination with scientists, breeders, and agronomists.

Effectively communicate and report trial planning, design and implementation to Agronomists.

Operate and maintain agricultural equipment including tractors, various implements, harvesters, forklifts, and loaders.

Assist in irrigation management, fertilizer applications and chemical applications throughout the growing season.

Assist in operational team duties including but not limited to trial preparation, seed production, data collection, post season management and other tasks assigned by the team.

Become proficient with Biotechnology Quality Management Systems (BQMS) and other in-house quality management systems to ensure regulatory compliance and the tracking and containment of regulated material.

Contribute to writing detailed operating protocols, record, organize, and analyze data, present technical reports, and summaries.

Optimize existing methods and rapidly adapt new methods in field trialing studies.

Typical EducationBachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university(required)Relevant Experience2+ years of relevant experience either in farming operations, production agronomy or agricultural research trialing is required. Relevant experience in irrigation, chemical applications and fertility management in desired. Experience in operating agricultural equipment, i.e., tractors, harvesters, and other implements is desired. Ability to troubleshoot, optimize and execute agronomic procedures and initiatives regarding trialing objectives. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word is required. Experience in operation John Deere equipment with Green Star interface guidance is desired.Other InformationAbility to work within and enjoy a team-based environment. Valid Idaho driver’s license and willingness to occasionally travel and work off-site.
