Nurse Aide - Med/Surg (Big Island, Call-In)

RESPONSIBILITIESJOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the supervision of assigned supervisor/manager, provides high quality patient care, for ages infant-geriatrics including documentation in accordance with hospital policies/protocols and standards of care. Based upon area of assignment, performs a variety of duties/responsibilities as noted below.TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Seeing, hearing, speaking, standing, walking, finger dexterity. Continuous: stooping, forward reaching, handling. Frequent: lifting up to 10 pounds, grasping. Occasional: pushing/pulling maximum 50 pounds of force, lifting and carrying up to maximum 50 pounds, kneeling, crouching.TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Exposed to infection and disease-bearing specimens; infectious and contagious diseases; hazards of handling diseased organs and tissues; odorous chemicals and specimens; housekeeping cleaning agents/chemicals; explosive chemicals, gases and low level radiation. Subjected to varying and unpredictable situations. Subjected to many interruptions and long irregular hours. Required Personal Protection Equipment: Eye protection, gown, mask, mask with face shield, non-sterile/sterile medical gloves, CAPR.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE: Ability to read, write, speak and understand English, both orally and in writing. Minimum one (1) year work experience as a Nurse Aide; or,o Diploma or certificate as a Nurse Aide.o Diploma or certificate as a Medical Assistant.o Diploma or certificate as an Emergency Medical Technician.o Diploma or certificate as Patient Care Technician.o Nursing student having completed a semester of clinical fundamentals; or,o RN with a foreign RN license with at least (1) year acute care experience. Nursing Aide certification may be required depending upon area of assignment. Current BLS certification.B.
