DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Synthesize information from a variety of sources, including blueprints, plans and written specifications, in order to select proper materials and the needed amounts for a project.
Perform welding in accordance with American Welding Society (AWS) standards and the plans and specifications.
Use details from written plans and instructions from supervisors in order to cut, fabricate, and securely bolt metal structures like beams, columns, stairs, and railings together.
Transport heavy metal pieces from the ground level to a higher location using tools like forklifts or cranes or working with other team members to help position pieces correctly.
Ensure proper placement, balance and alignment of structural pieces by using levels, laser tools or plumb bobs.
Transform metal pieces into functional elements that meet the guidelines of the project by cutting materials and using fabrication techniques.
Access challenging work positions that are either at elevation or otherwise difficult to reach while following the proper OSHA regulations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or its equivalent
Completion of an apprenticeship or experience in the field
Welding Certification preferred
