Facilities Maintenance Specialist

Lynker is seeking a well-rounded Facilities Maintenance Specialist to join our team for a long-term project. The Facilities Maintenance Specialist selected shall perform various site design and construction coordination tasks at the Kihei, HI, site and potential other sites. There is flexibility for the person hired to do this work either on a Part-Time or Full-Time basis (30-40 hrs/wk).

Duties of the Facilities Maintenance Specialist will include, but are not limited to:

- Consult with and make recommendations to site leadership (Superintendent and Deputy Superintendent) on all matters related to site improvement design, planning, and construction.

- Serve as POC for all Maui site design and improvement work coordination with NOAA/ONMS, PIR, staff and contractors, related to the interior and exterior of all buildings and grounds.

- Serve as POC for all planning and contracting activities with staff, partners, and contractors required for multiple site improvements and investments.

- Identify and recommend to site leadership service contractors for repair and construction work.

- Serve as site lead in identifying, reviewing and negotiating bids for proposal, and signing/securing contractors for all site improvements as instructed by site leadership.

- Identify areas that need work, and advise and consult with site leadership on needed changes to ensure Kihei campus is safe, resilient, well-maintained, and clean.

- Coordinate repairs such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical as required, and assist outside contractors as needed.

- Maintain and update all site maintenance plans, schedules, records, and other documentation as requested.

The Ideal Facilities Maintenance Specialist will have the following:

- Associate's Degree from accredited college or university in a field that supports facility project planning and management, OR years of experience in Maintenance may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

- Minimum of 3 years of experience working in facility project construction, project management, and facilities operations.

- Experience working in construction management in Hawaii and knowledge of all levels of government permitting and contractor requirements on Maui.

- Experience conducting basic construction, carpentry, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and landscaping maintenance and repair.

- Additional experience with repaving projects and/or landscaping, OR previous experience vetting and pricing these types of projects is a plus.

- Proven ability to assess a wide variety of facility problems and needs, and develop and implement practical and realistic solutions.

- Ability to convey technical information to Client persons in a way that leads to the best collaborative outcome on the project.

- Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple large projects under tight timelines.
