‘Ōlelo Community Media is O’ahu’s nonprofit Public, Education, and Government (PEG) access provider, created to empower the community's voice. The specific and primary purpose of ‘Ōlelo is to promote the creation, production, and cable casting of programs by, for, and about Hawai’i. Such programs will be aimed at preserving, developing, and enhancing the diversity of thought, culture, and heritage within Hawai’i. Through these activities, ‘Ōlelo will facilitate lifelong learning and the community’s participation in the democratic process.

‘Ōlelo seeks candidates to fill one (1) full-time Trainer position based out of our main office building in Mapunapuna, from elementary students to Kupuna and all the people in between. Training is an essential part of what ‘Ōlelo provides to schools, educators, youth programs, and organizations in building workforce development and project-based learning. The trainer is responsible for working with the diverse members of the community to help them acquire foundational skills in video production, editing, and/or digital animation to create impactful stores in today's media-rich world.

The ideal candidate must be able to reach classes based on personal expertise in creative media, media communications, and/or animation, The trainer is, furthermore, expected to assist the Training Manager in the designing, planning, and implementing of training programs, curriculum, policies, and procedures for staff, clients, and volunteers as well as to help clients understand the value of P.E.G-Access and equip them with the technical and aesthetic skills that will enable them to successfully produce high-quality non-commercial programs.

The successful candidate must have the following:

Coordinate and facilitate the beginning and advanced level classes and curriculum that meet the training, educational, and learning needs of the company and its clients and staff.

Monitoring and recommending improvements to the training curriculum to ensure the effectiveness of instruction and material

Schedule resources; classes, rooms, and equipment, collaboratively with other departments and Media Centers/Hubs to effectively serve participants, and conduct training classes as needed at company sites, or at other locations to facilitate requests from organizations. Foster an environment of continuous learning, mentorship, and with staff and members.

Provide timely oral and written reports reflecting current training data, trends, and other information as may be required to assess training efforts.
