As an agri-business company engaged in agriculture, Hartung Brothers currently has the following employment opportunity available at our Kekaha, HI location (Kauai): Farm Technology Specialist

This position is responsible for implementing, operating, and maintaining information technology (IT) used in agricultural operations (precision farming) at our farm facilities and in the field.

The Farm Technology Specialist will be assigned to assist staff with providing computer hardware, software, and technical support to multiple organizations at the Kekaha job site. Under the direction of the Business Administration Manager and professional systems analysts at HBI Corporate.

Responsibilities:

Supporting PC hardware components, desktop operating system software, and application software (Microsoft Office 365 products, OneDrive, SharePoint, etc.).

Monitoring help desk support requests.

Providing end user support in various levels of technical and non-technical staff.

Assists in audio-visual, security systems, documentation, and analysis.

Maintain and repair network infrastructure to include wired and wireless networks.

Assist in supporting backup and recovery efforts as required.

Other support areas may include Geographic Information Systems (GIS) projects and other technology modernization projects to support ongoing farm operations.

Deploy new hardware (laptops, desktops, mobile devices, monitors, and printers) and maintain inventory.

Research, demo, acquires, implements, administers, and troubleshoots hardware and software products used in agricultural operations, including, without limitation, labor timekeeping systems, productivity-monitoring systems, and traceability systems.

Project Management

Precision Ag – GPS: Understanding of GPS functions and RTK.

Drone Operation – preferred or ability to obtain license.

o When operating a drone, controls the drone from takeoff, keeps it on course, performs the mission and lands drone safely.

o Gathers information or produces aerial data, as needed.

Qualifications:

Must have awareness of PC hardware components, desktop operating system software, application software and engineering application (ArcView, SQL Server, etc.).

Must have an awareness of the PC industry's current and emerging technology trends and direction, as well as a keen interest in computer-based information systems and technology.

Interested applicants should possess excellent analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems.

Should have the ability to research and understand technical documentation, and an understanding of how to apply various technical resources.

Ability to perform tasks such as providing operating systems and application software installations and upgrades, virus protection and eradication.

Able to interact effectively with management, staff, and other personnel, and work independently, and/or as part of a team.

Preferred Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent.

o Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or another pertinent field of study (preferred)

o IT experience preferred.

Knowledge of IT and PC systems, tools, and applications.

Strong computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).

Microsoft Windows 10 and Apple iOS experience preferred.

Strong communication and customer support skills.

Knowledge of Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), Virtual Private Networks and basic routing.

Experience in a fast-paced environment.

Experience in strategic planning, project management, quality assurance, systems administration, database administration, and/or applications analysis and development are a plus.

Must have or be able to obtain FAA Part 107 sUAS License and 137 Certification.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Hold a valid driver’s license.

Rate of pay:

Min: $20.00 per hour / Max: $40.00 per hour

Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience.
