The Princeville Wine Market is seeking a positive and outgoing person for a full time position. Established in 2010, the Princeville Wine Market is a locally owned boutique wine store selling some of the most interesting and allocated wines in Hawaii as well as spirits, beer, and select food items.

We are seeking a self starter who is motivated to continue learning and growing. This is a dynamic job which encompasses multiple facets with the primary focus being on in store sales, cash handling, and stocking. Starting pay would be $25-$30 depending on experience and wine knowledge with potential to earn more as proficiency is gained. All employees have aspects of responsibility that are managerial, but this job does not require the supervision of others. Wine knowledge is strongly desired, but we are willing to train the right candidate.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Provide recognition, promote good public relations, and handle complaints, concerns or special requests for island guests, residents, and group contacts.

2. Describe and ensure quality of all store items, as well as provide knowledge of wine and spirits.

3. Properly and accurately process cash and credit card payments

4. Observe physical condition of facilities and make recommendations for corrections and improvements as needed.

5. Describe the selection of beverage items to customers by offering interesting, and vivid descriptions of the each item's, origin, taste, etc.

6. Work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and owner and also work well alone.

7. The ability to develop a complete working knowledge of all products offered, i.e. liquors, wines, beers, ports, eau de vies, cognacs, specialty drinks, cheese, etc.

8. The ability to recognize and address potential intoxicated, disruptive, or the under age.

9. Assist with ordering and receiving wine deliveries.

10. Assist with the cleaning of operational areas.

11. Complete special projects.

12. Must be comfortable with restocking, lifting and moving boxes up to 50lbs (most wine boxes are 40lbs) continuously throughout the workday. During busy days we are moving a lot of boxes.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Education: Wine certifications are desired or at least the commitment to achieve them over time.

Kauai Department of Liquor Control red card is required to start working. All information needed to pass the quiz can be found on the Kauai Liquor Department website. You must be at least 21yrs old to obtain the red card.

Skills and Abilities: Requires a working knowledge of Princeville Wine Market's cultural and core standards, policies, and standard operating procedures. Working knowledge is generally learned on-the-job. Requires ability to accurately and efficiently operate computer systems including PC, MAC, and other POS systems in general. Training to operate Point of Sale will be provided. Consistent ability to accurately and efficiently process cash and credit card transactions. Must be able to lift and maneuver wine boxes of up to 50 pounds in a variety of scenarios.

Requires reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language.

Travel required: Some travel could be required such as making deliveries. Not often.

Hours required: Full time would be less than 40 hours per week. Must be willing to work some shifts that are 10 hours (we operate on a 4-day work week.) This has typically consisted of two 10 hour shifts and then two shorter shifts making for about 34 total hours worked per week. More hours are potentially available, but this has been the most comfortable mix of shifts for the 4-day work week for past employees.
