Position Overview
This highly active, fast-paced role is perfect for an energetic self-starter who thrives on physical work and immediate results. You'll be the face of Brightspot across Hawaii, maintaining our product displays at premium Japanese retailers including Don Quijote, Don Don Donki, Marukai, and Tokyo Central.
This is not a desk job – you'll spend your days:
Moving between multiple store locations
Restocking and optimizing product displays
Building and assembling new fixtures
Managing warehouse operations
Representing our brand throughout Hawaii
Key Details
Reports To: Operations Manager (Seattle)
Schedule: Flexible based on customer needs (store coverage requirements below)
Status: Independent Contractor (1099-NEC)
Compensation: $5,000-$6,000/month
Benefits: Mileage reimbursement, travel expense coverage for neighbor islands
Location: Oahu-based with occasional outer island travel
Core Responsibilities
- Store Merchandising & Restocking (70%)
- Bring products through store receiving process
- Create and update sales orders in Zoho Inventory software
- Strategically rotate stock between locations to optimize sales
- Maintain visual appeal through organization and tidying
- Collaborate with headquarters on display improvements
- Assemble new displays as needed
- Implement seasonal product rotations
Current Weekly Store Coverage:
Don Quijote-Kaheka, 2 × weekly
Don Don Donki-Kapolei, 2 × weekly
Don Quijote-Pearl City, 1 × weekly
Tokyo Central, 1 × weekly
Times Supermarket-Mililani, 1 × weekly
Marukai-Dilingham. 1 x Monthly
Additional locations in Oahu and neighboring islands will be added as our brand expands.
Warehouse Operations (20%)
- Manage local storage facility
- Receive and process monthly shipments from the mainland
- Maintain accurate inventory tracking in Zoho Inventory
- Organize space efficiently for quick access
- Process and ship local orders
- Monitor climate conditions (maintaining under 80°F)
Brand Ambassador (10%)
- Represent Brightspot at local craft fairs and events
- Provide market insights to Seattle headquarters
- Scout potential new retail partnerships
Required Qualities
- High energy level for this physically demanding role
- Strong sense of urgency – empty spaces need immediate attention
- Physical capability to lift/move 40 lb boxes repeatedly throughout the day
- Mechanical aptitude to build spinners and shelves as needed
- Problem-solving skills with initiative to handle unexpected situations
- Tech comfort using Zoho mobile app for daily inventory management
- Reliable transportation to access all store locations
- Professional demeanor when interacting with store staff
- Detail-oriented efficiency in all aspects of the role
- Self-motivation to work independently with minimal supervision
- Reliability and punctuality in meeting all commitments
