Special Events Coordinator: Create, manage, and maintain event expense budgets for all events. Works with staff, organizing and devising event plans and monitoring all progress to ensure everything runs smoothly. Coordinates all processes involved in setting up and down an event while ensuring donations are maximized for our Participating Agencies.

Primary Accountability

Coordinate fundraising events with staff and volunteers.

Liaison with other community service organizations. Coordinate special community service events to minimize the outflow of Kauai United Way funds.

Assist in disseminating the Kauai United Way message: Donating to Kauai United Way is an easy way to make a significant contribution that helps our whole island. Contributions are used judiciously, bringing vital social services to those in our community who need them.

Assist with the development and implementation of special events such as the Annual Meeting, Mahalo Celebration, Campaign Kick-Off, and others as scheduled.

Develop and implement strategies and aid fundraising events such as the Benefit Golf Events, Kick Ball, and others as scheduled.

Assist in administrative tasks as necessary.

Required Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED.

Valid driver’s license required; must be able to have and maintain an acceptable driving record.

Proficient with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and web browsers

Preferred Experience and Skills

Kauai non-profit work experience is preferred.

Prior special event coordination experience preferred

Knowledge of Kauai business, government, non-profit communities, and island issues.

Experience in collaborating and coordinating efforts and resources to achieve desired outcomes.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Exceptional skills at building and nurturing relationships with the Board of Directors and key community stakeholders (e.g., elected and government officials, business, and non-profit leaders).

Flexibility to frequently work on weekends and outside of regular business hours.

Experience using social media platforms effectively for marketing, promotional, and fundraising purposes.
