STEADFAST HOUSING DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION incorporated as a non-profit entity in 1989 and combined experts in housing and behavioral health services to provide an independent living housing program for adults with serious and persistent mental illnesses. Our main office is located in Honolulu.

We are actively recruiting for one (1) full-time Recovery Skills Specialist position within SHDC’s Hale Ulu Pono facility in Kapolei, Oahu. The hourly rate for this position is $15.08.

What do you have to do?

Staff Development and Training:

o Participates in assigned public or private education programs, workshops, seminars etc., to keep abreast of new developments and changes relating to mental health and housing issues to stimulate professional growth.

Case management services:

o Provides, schedules and coordinates support services to consumers to access community resources including but not limited to food, clothing, housing, educational programs, vocational opportunities, recreational activities, mental health services, entitlements, transportation.

Maintains collaboration with AMHD, CCS and CBCM Agencies to assure the client’s stability in the community.

Identifies and provides emergency crisis services as necessary; responds according to accepted crisis intervention methods and techniques; and coordinates other services as appropriate.

Advocates and supports Eligible Consumers with enthusiasm and professionalism.

Accomplishes direct service responsibilities to consumers in a timely manner.

A. Life skills training services:

Safe meal preparation

Money management

Housekeeping / use of appliances

Budget/shopping

Health and Safety

Interpersonal relationships

Communication

Conflict resolution

Anger management

Illness management

Transportation/Leisure time planning and

Hygiene and Grooming

Administrative Functions:

1. Completes and processes resident documentation that include:

Tenant application,

Eligibility determination,

Income Verification,

2. Prepares functional assessments of “Eligible Consumer” to identify strengths in relation to their personal goals for housing, employment, and social opportunities.

3. Collaborates with Eligible Consumers to develop Residential Service Plan goals and objectives that integrate findings of the functional assessment and focus on Consumer’s strengths, skills/abilities; preferences/choices; potential capabilities, functional levels (past and present) attitudes and behavior to provide the type, intensity, and frequency of supports needed to maximize Consumer’s potential.

4. Administers and regularly updates standardized program forms and Interpretive Summaries.

5. Monitors Service Plan goals and objectives and maintains daily progress notes.

What do you need to qualify for the job?

Associate degree from an accredited university or college preferably in the social sciences or human services field. Will accept high school diploma or equivalent with some social services employment experience. Valid Hawaii Driver's License and a clean driver’s abstract with no more than 3 violations within the last 3 years. One (1) year experience in behavioral health support services preferred. One (1) year experience in the direct delivery of case management preferred. Ability to pass a background check and drug screening. Available to provide on-call support and response after hours. Position requires use of own personal automobile to get to/from work site with current registration, safety check and insurance.
