Position Purpose:

The Program Director is primarily responsible for the oversight, coordination and support of programs at Kaʻehu Bay.

Position Requirements:

Must possess the ability to understand and speak Hawaiian language, as most programs integrate Hawaiian language, culture and protocol.

Must pass a background check, drug test, and submit a drivers abstract

Ideal candidates will possess at minimum:

5 years experience in a managerial position working in a nonprofit organization.

5 years experience of program and event coordination.

5 years of experience in Education and working with youth/children.

5 years of experience managing staff and financials.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

This position must create, direct and implement all aspects of programming in compliance with the vision, mission, and grant requirements at Kaʻehu.

The Program Director reports directly to the Executive Director and works closely with the Administrator and Program staff.

Position Kuleana:

Management oversight of the following: Community Environmental Stewardship Programs, Kaʻehu Sacred Spaces and Disaster Relief Programs,the Kaʻehu events calendar and programming schedules, and other cultural and educational programs.

Oversee & conduct Cultural protocols to greet visiting schools, groups and program participants.

Coordinate calendar scheduling with cultural practitioners, environmental organizations, and community groups.

Management and planning of community work days, community events, and workshops.

Work with the Executive Director to manage program grant budget(s).

Oversight of program implementation.

Conduct site-inspections to field-trips, after-school and summer programs at Kaʻehu.

Write quarterly and annual financial reports, grant reports, and budget reports.

Attend weekly meetings with the Executive Director.

Attend weekly staff meetings.

Attend monthly meetings between Executive Director and Accountant/Bookkeeper to assure fiscal responsibility.

Work with the Executive Director to review overall progress reports for the program(s) grant reports.

Address any issues, concerns or discrepancies during programs.

Document and report any issues to the Executive Director and develop SOPs on addressing program issues.

Conduct on-going evaluation(s) of programs and staff feedback on possible improvements.
