WOMEN HELPING WOMEN is seeking qualified applicants for the following full time position: Children's Advocate

This position is summarized as follows:

To develop and coordinate WHW's shelter program for children and their parents. To provide emotional support and activities, including groups, to promote non-violent parenting skills; and to support overall program philosophy statement and policies of Women Helping Women.

Duties include providing individual and group services to children and parents, working with the Deputy Director to develop the overall Children's Program, maintaining client files and activity logs, and as needed: answering the 24-hour domestic violence hotline, handling crisis calls, providing in-person services to shelter residents, and other assigned duties

Position details include:

40 hours per week: 11:00am to 7:00pm Tuesday to Saturday

$14.00 per hour; semi-monthly pay periods

position reports to Deputy Director

located at Women Helping Women's Upcountry shelter

Requirements for this job include:

Minimum: High School/GED or Associates Degree, combined with relevant experience; Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, or other related field

Knowledge and understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence

Knowledge of childhood development: relevant coursework and/or training/certifications preferred

Prepared to work as a first responder with individuals in crisis

Ability to relate well with people of diverse cultural backgrounds

Knowledge of community resources and agencies

Ability to attend company-paid trainings

Must be willing to undergo criminal history background check and child welfare services background check (only required after job offer is made)
