PAL Hawai'i is looking for a maintenance person to do custodial work and general property upkeep in Kekaha at Non-Profit Affordable Housing Apartment complex.

DUE TO INSURANCE COMPLIANCE PURPOSES- Applicant must be a licensed, insured driver operating a vehicle with car insurance. This is non-negotiable, unfortunately, as we know how that is not an option for everyone. However, as an employer, we do require this position to be on the road at times which means we do need to verify license and insurance.

Overview:

- Three days a week, 5 hours a day

- On-Call for emergencies or urgent situations (within reason, we do not expect you to be available all the time)

- Starts at $25/ hour

Description (Full Description and Duties to be discussed in interview):

- Landscaping of small lawn and walk ways

- Custodial care of 13 unit walk up building

- "Handyman" duties as need to repair plumbing, electric, change locks, etc. (Higher level skill set appreciated, but not required; can outsource "bigger" or more "high level" projects to third party companies)

- Deep clean individual apartment unit for unit turnarounds (we try to keep turn over of residents low, but may have one to two units in need of a deep clean per month.)

- Reports to Property Manager

Expectations:

- Represents PAL well (will be interacting with residents and possibly HUD inspectors)

- Keeps in communication (Property Manager works from Anahola office)

- Identifies, reports, and fixes concerns before they become problematic (leaks, possible hazards, etc)

- Be available on call 1-2 days/week (we will not be expecting anyone to be on call 24/7)

Other Factors:

- Please let us know if you have your own smartphone and can install 1-3 company apps there (one for punching hours, one for work orders, one for staff meetings)

- We have properties/offices located from Kilauea to Kekaha. Currently we will not be expecting you to work beyond Kekaha.

- We will give preference to someone already living in Kekaha or nearby.
