Agriculture Manager
We are looking for a long-term, passionate, dynamic agriculture manager.
We currently grow over 150 types of food and medicine plants on the farm and are always striving to increase biodiversity. But most important is to grow specific plants at the scale we need to supply new product lines that we are currently developing.
Our priority is to grow for our product line. But we will always expand the biodiversity, and creatively experiment with new plants.
Ideal Applicant:
3-5 years experience in organic agriculture management and a strong love for plants is required.
Be able to manage a conscious community of work traders striving to live with aloha and delegate responsibilities.
Not be afraid of holding work traders' performance accountable and replacing those who are not performing.
A desire to explore living and building a life on Kaua'i for the mid-long term (2+ years).
Responsibilities:
Propagation, starts, planting
Soil care, compost, vermicompost, compost tea, amendments
Weeding, mulching
Irrigation
Harvest of crops
Seed saving
Management of work trade crew.
Management of work traders. Be able to facilitate an aloha community spirit but have firm boundaries as well.
Food delivery to happy local customers and accounts payable.
Salary and Work Exchange:
25 hours a week plus overtime.
$800 a month stipend with profit sharing options and bonuses based upon performance when you create new revenue streams for the farm.
