To support the Maintenance Department in the maintenance and building of facilities at Sea Life Park ensuring safety and attractiveness for the animals, visitors and employees. Full time position, flexible availability to include weekends and holidays.
Job Description
Essential Duties:
Knowledge of the Park’s salt water system; able to drain and fill all exhibits
Work with maintenance employees on group projects
Help keep the grounds and shop areas clean and safe
Assist the Maintenance Supervisor in the Metal Shop
Perform assigned tasks with quality workmanship in a timely fashion
Support any type of request from other departments
Lift and transport animals within the facility with the fork-lift
Perform other assigned duties as needed
Working Conditions: Generally outdoors or in shop areas
Working Hours: Typically 40 hours per week on a pre-arranged schedule
Hours may change depending on weather, functions and holidays
May be required to start earlier, stay later, work nights and work weekends
Equipment Used: Able to operate Park trucks and Park fork – lift on a regular basis; vehicles range from Ford Ranger to Ford F-350; Fork -lift is a Yale with 4,000 lbs capacity; pressure washing equipment and rig
Tools Used: Skill saw, chop saw, table saw, radial arm saw, chain saw, electric drills, cordless drill, drill press, bloc sanders, belt sander, bench sander, 4” – 9” power grinders, hammers drills, jack hammers, demolition hammers, routers, impact wrench, jigsaw, pressure washers, small electric submersible pumps, needle gun, gas tampers, jumping jack; must have own basic hand tools such as: hammer, tape measure, screwdrivers, pliers, snap line, etc.
Mental and Physical Demands: May be required to meet a deadline or work under pressure if emergency develops that requires immediate attention regarding human or animal safety; required to lift 100 lbs and carry for a distance of at least 20 ft but not on regular basis; capable of lifting 50 - 60 lbs without problems; much of day spent walking or engaged in other physical exertion to do tasks
Materials Used: Treated and untreated lumber, latex and epoxy paints, concrete adhesives, contact cement, Formica, roofing materials, Hawn cement, asphalt patch, fiberglass, tile, PVC, assorted metals which might include steel, aluminum, galvanized pipe, stainless steel and all fiberglass related materials
Communication Demands: Able to understand, communicate and carry out verbal and written instructions
