We are a busy milling shop and construction company looking to hire dedicated laborers who want to become apprentices. Applicants must currently live on the Big Island of Hawaii. You must be a reliable, hard worker with a can-do attitude and able to follow directions from co-workers. You will be responsible for driving company vehicles to make purchases and deliveries, loading and unloading heavy materials and tools frequently, moving and inventorying tools, and cleaning our warehouses, vehicles, and job sites. You will work alongside our journeymen on construction sites and in our cabinet workshop, learning new skills daily. There are lots of opportunities to learn and advance your skills further.
The pay starts at $22.50/hour but could be higher based on your experience and skills. We offer excellent employee benefits, including 10-paid Holidays each year. This position is full-time, Monday through Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm, with the occasional opportunity for overtime. Show up, help with stuff, talk story, get choke kālā, and hana hou.
Please note - only qualified candidates currently living on the Big Island of Hawaii will be considered for this position.
Responsibilities:
Drive company truck or van to make purchases and deliveries.
Prep and clean up construction sites and mill working shop.
Load/unload construction materials and products, must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
Follow instructions from supervisor and co-workers.
Ready to learn from on-the-job training.
Care for and complete inventory of construction tools and equipment.
Running errands as needed.
Help co-workers when and where necessary, be willing to pitch in with what is needed.
Skills:
Ability to do physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks.
Ability to keep a typical work schedule of Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm
Be punctual and dependable.
Comfortable driving a box truck and utility van and have a clean driving record.
Be self-motivated – good at finding essential tasks on your own.
Good listening and communication skills - comfortable at asking questions.
Must have dependable daily transportation.
Must currently live on the Big Island of Hawaii.
Education/Experience:
Previous experience in the construction industry and or forklift experience is a plus.
Current valid Hawaii driver’s license.
Be at least 18 years of age.
High school diploma or equivalent.
