Job Title: Freezer Handler

Job Summary
The Freezer Handler is responsible for handling, organizing, and maintaining inventory in the company’s cold storage and freezer areas. This role ensures that meat products are properly stored, rotated, and retrieved according to safety and quality standards. The position requires strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety protocols, while working in sub-zero temperatures.
Key Responsibilities
Receive, unload, and store meat products in designated freezer areas.
Pick, pack, and stage frozen products for customer orders and internal transfers.
Ensure proper rotation of stock (FIFO/FEFO) to maintain product quality and reduce waste.
Accurately label and track inventory using warehouse management systems and/or manual logs.
Perform regular inventory counts and assist with cycle counts and reconciliations.
Monitor freezer temperatures and report any deviations or equipment issues promptly.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of freezer areas in compliance with food safety standards.
Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment safely in freezer environments.
Follow all company safety policies, including appropriate use of protective clothing and equipment for cold environments.
Collaborate with quality control and production teams to ensure timely and accurate product movement.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Prior experience in a warehouse, cold storage, or food distribution environment is an asset.
Ability to work in freezers with temperatures ranging from -10°F to -20°F (-23°C to -29°C) for extended periods.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in product handling.
Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs (23 kg) regularly.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Familiarity with warehouse management systems and inventory tracking is a plus.
Certification or experience in forklift operation preferred.
Working Conditions
Work primarily takes place in freezer and cold storage environments.
Requires use of protective clothing such as insulated gloves, jackets, and footwear.
Standing, lifting, bending, and walking for extended periods.
