Olelo Community Media is Oahu's nonprofit Public, Education, and Government (PEG) access provider, created to empower community voices. The specific and primary purpose of Olelo is to promote the creation, production, and cable casting of programs by, for, and to Hawai'i. Such programs will preserve, develop, and enhance Hawai'i’s diversity of thought, culture, and heritage. Through these activities, Olelo will facilitate lifelong learning and the community's participation in the democratic process.
Olelo is seeking a responsible Part Time Custodian to maintain our facilities. The appearance of our building, both externally and internally, makes the role crucial to our organization. The ideal candidate will be meticulous, thorough, and attentive to detail while performing cleaning and maintenance tasks.
The PT Custodian is responsible for custodial and janitorial duties throughout the Company's facility and premises to ensure an overall clean, welcoming, and professional appearance. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, those listed below, and other inherent responsibilities associated with such a position.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement an approved plan that includes daily, weekly, monthly, and as-needed task completion of responsibilities that include, but are not limited to, cleaning of restrooms and lunchrooms, sweeping and mopping of tile floors, vacuuming, maintaining cleanliness of carpet, emptying and removing trash from all wastebaskets, and ensuring that restrooms are adequately cleaned and stocked with needed supplies
Monitor inventory and availability of necessary janitorial and restroom supplies and notify supervisor in a timely manner when inventory is low and there is an approaching need for supplies to be ordered.
Sweep paved areas outside (sidewalk and steps) leading up to the front entrance of the building.
Water and nurture landscaping as requested by supervisor.
implement the highest of standards of cleanliness and safety as they relate to the professional presentation of the interior spaces and exterior premises and attempt to foster a commitment on the part of the Olelo community of employees to assist in participating in the upkeep of the facility by responding to any unexpected need.
Facilitate awareness and communicate potential safety hazards, including but not limited to such things as floors that are wet and slippery, wires that may be trip hazards, and storage areas that may be blocking exit/evacuation routes.
Organize, reorganize, tidy, and clean communal areas, offices, storage, and other areas, as requested or required and to clean and maintain productive use of respective areas, or, for relocation of people, property, or activities.
