Entry Level/Trainee Prerequisites & Requirements:
-Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
-Must be CPR certified (within the first week of starting)
-Agree to background check
-Agree to Volunteer night
-Read and Agree to Employee Handbook
-Must be a team player and demonstrate an excellent work ethic
-Work 1 to 4 nights per week
-3-month probation period
-Complete HIPAA Online Training (prior to start date)
-Must learn how to successfully perform the following during the training period:
o Gather and analyze patient information
o Collect Co-pay
o Testing preparation procedures
o Polysomnographic procedures
o Recognize Sleep Stages and respiratory events
o Service Management and Professionalism

Experienced Sleep Tech Prerequisite & Requirements:
-Must work well with patients
-Maintain current CPR or BCLS certification
-Must be a team player and demonstrate an excellent work ethic
-Must be competent enough to perform without supervision
-Work 1-4 nights per week
-3-Months probation period
-Have Current Credentials (RPSGT or CPSGT)
-Must be able to successfully perform the following:
o Collect Co-pay
o Gather and analyze patient information
Verify the medical order and protocol
Complete and verify documentation
Explain the procedure and orient the patient to the sleep center
o Testing preparation procedures
Prepare and calibrate equipment required for testing to determine proper functioning
Apply electrodes and sensors according to accepted published standards
Perform appropriate physiologic calibrations to ensure proper signals
Perform routine positive airway pressure (PAP) mask fitting
Positive Airway Pressure & Oxygen Therapy for Sleep Related Breathing Disorders (PAP only)
o Polysomnographic procedures
Follow procedural protocols (such as Diagnostic Sleep Study, Split Night, Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT), Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT), parasomnia studies, EEG, PAP and oxygen titration, etc.) to ensure collection of appropriate data
Perform polysomnographic data acquisition while monitoring study-tracing quality to ensure signals are artifact free and make adjustments, if necessary
Document routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure, and other significant events in order to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results
Implement appropriate interventions (including actions necessary for patient safety and therapeutic intervention such as continuous and bi-level positive airway pressure, oxygen administration, etc.)
Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide age specific care in the treatment, assessment, and education of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
o Score Sleep Stages and respiratory events
o Service Management and Professionalism
Comply with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and standards regarding safety and infection control issues
Proficient in equipment care and maintenance
Demonstrate effective written and spoken communication skills. Demonstrate ability to follow direction.
Demonstrate appropriate social skills
