As a Front Desk Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for our patients. You will play a crucial role in creating a welcoming environment and ensuring smooth operations at the front desk. This role requires excellent organizational skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. He/she must be able to work under pressure and have adequate communication, computer, and problem-solving skills. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Welcomes patients and visitors to the medical office by greeting them in person and on the telephone and answering inquiries or referring questions to other staff members.
Schedules appointments for the doctors.
Assists patients with insurance and billing related questions.
Verifies and processes insurance information and obtains necessary authorizations.
Protects patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of medical, personal, and financial information.
Maintains operations by following policies and procedures, reporting needed changes.
Assists with administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and data entry.
Coordinates with medical staff and other departments to ensure seamless patient flow.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Personality and demeanor to deal with the public and assist ill, older, or distraught patients.
Good computer skills to learn new electronic health records and practice management systems
Basic office skills such as typing and filing.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Minimum one (1) year prior office and/or customer service experience preferred, ideally in a healthcare setting
