Ho`ōla Lāhui Hawai`i is a FQHC, non-profit community health organization serving families throughout the county of Kaua'i. We are seeking a full-time Dental Receptionist for our Waimea dental clinic.

Under the supervision of Dental Assistant Manager, our Dental Receptionist is a team player and able to work with our patients, patients' families, staff members and health care providers. Must demonstrate professionalism, diplomacy, patience, and compassion when dealing with patients and their family. This position requires competence, professionalism and the ability to maintain confidentiality in regards to patient care.

Functions in an efficient and organized manner and utilizes initiative in problem solving and adapting ways to improve patient flow and services. Seeks opportunities for career growth and accomplishment. The front desk is the key point at which everything is initiated (patient information, billing, etc) and is the primary patient flow/control point.

Job Duties include:

Greeting patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner using effective interpersonal and communication skills.

Ensuring registration forms and insurance information is complete/up to date with necessary documentation.

Maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy at all times.

Taking incoming messages and distributing appropriately.

Collecting payments.

Scheduling appointments; obtaining all pertinent information required according to procedure.

Making reminder calls.

Filing/preparing charts for daily appointments.

Keeping patient waiting area attractive and tidy- keeping patients in waiting area informed.

Working with clinic staff as a team to ensure smooth operations of the clinic.

Position requirements/description

GED or High School Diploma.

General office experience, preferably in a medical/dental office setting.

Familiarity with computers and MS Office applications.

Basic knowledge of insurances and applicable co-payments.

Professionalism and patient confidentiality.

Flexible, organized, mature, impartial, and ethical.

Able to communicate clearly and tactfully with others.

Legible, complete and timely documentation and charting.

Ability to problem-solve, set priorities, and work with multiple distractions and interruptions.

Self-motivated, honest, energetic, and committed.

Possesses tact and interpersonal skills necessary to deal with patients, physicians, providers, employees and others.

Familiarity with our various Hawai'i cultures and languages, and culturally sensitive to the needs of the people of the community.

Post-HS education and familiarity with dental terminology a plus!

No previous dental experience necessary - will train the right, positive, can-do person!
