Need Head Chef, Prep cook, Server for new Fusion Izakaya Restaurant

About Us: We are a small but vibrant Japanese-Hawaiian fusion izakaya, opening soon, aiming for high-quality ingredients, precise techniques, and delicious drinks. Our menu combines traditional Japanese techniques and Hawaiian flavors, showcasing our creativity and passion for food in a fun, izakaya-style environment. We are looking for a skilled and passionate Head Chef to help lead our culinary team, a Prep Cook to assist, and Servers for front of house. Nights and weekends a must, full time options available for the right person.

Head Chef Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage kitchen operations, ensuring the highest standards of food quality and consistency.

Expertly break down and prepare fish sashimi-style with precision and artistry.

Develop and innovate menu items.

Train, mentor, and inspire kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.

Manage inventory, food costs, and kitchen budgets effectively.

Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized kitchen.

Collaborate with front-of-house staff to provide seamless service and address any feedback or concerns.

Ability to work night and weekend shifts is a must.

Head Chef Qualifications:

Proven experience as a Chef in a Japanese or Japanese fusion restaurant.

Mastery of fish preparation and sashimi techniques.

A deep passion for food and innovation in the kitchen.

Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and lead a diverse team.

Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Flexibility and openness to experimenting with new ideas and approaches.

Japanese language skills are a plus but not required.

Must be a team player with a positive and collaborative attitude.

Prep Cook Responsibilities:

Prepare ingredients according to recipes and kitchen standards.

Break down and cut fish sashimi-style with precision.

Assist with portioning, marinating, and assembling components for dishes.

Maintain a clean and organized prep station.

Ensure all ingredients are properly stored and labeled.

Follow food safety and sanitation regulations.

Support the kitchen team during busy service hours when needed.

Work efficiently during PM shifts to ensure everything is prepped for the day.

Prep Cook Requirements:

Experience in a professional kitchen, preferably with Japanese cuisine.

Strong knife skills, handling and cutting fish a plus.

Ability to follow recipes and kitchen procedures with attention to detail.

Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.

Reliable, punctual, and able to work efficiently under time constraints.

Knowledge of food safety and sanitation best practices.

Japanese language skills are a plus but not required.

Server Responsibilities:

Provide excellent customer service, creating a warm and welcoming dining experience.

Take food and drink orders accurately and efficiently.

Have strong menu knowledge and confidently make recommendations, including sake and beverage pairings.

Deliver food and drinks in a timely manner, ensuring accuracy and presentation.

Communicate effectively between the kitchen and front-of-house team.

Handle customer inquiries, concerns, and special requests with professionalism.

Process payments and manage basic POS transactions.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dining area.

Server Requirements:

Previous experience as a Server or in a customer-facing role preferred, but we’re willing to train the right person.

Passion for food and hospitality, with a positive and team-oriented attitude.

Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Strong communication skills and attention to detail.

Willingness to learn about Japanese cuisine and beverage pairings.

Flexibility with scheduling, including weekends and evenings.

Japanese language skills are a plus but not required.
