Kauai Ferments is hiring a Vegan Food Prep Cook/Fermentation Assistant

Kauai Ferments continues to expand. Join our team and be a vital part of a growing local company. We are seeking a professional and driven individual to help work with our plant-based Grab N Go menu. You must be able to work well by yourself, be organized, have superior time management skills as well as have a passion for making vegan and fermented foods. All of our Grab N Go meals incorporate our fermented products. You will also be working with our locally sourced fermented foods such as water kefir, sauerkraut, kimchi and pickles.

Compensation: Based on experience and skill level.

Flexible Hours: 10-20 hrs per week on weekdays. May have to work a couple of flexible hours on the weekend for help in our kitchen when other employees travel. Ferments never sleep :)

Employment type: part-time and possible full time position opportunities.

We are a boutique fermentation shop/climate-controlled kitchen producing fermented foods such as sauerkraut, kimchi and pickles as well as plant-based Grab N Go meals. Some kitchen experience is a plus but, we will train the right team member. Above all, you need to enjoy making food! We use locally grown produce so some delivery to local stores/pick up from the farms may be required. Use of a car and a valid drivers license a plus.

Primary Duties:

Helping to coordinate planning Grab N Go weekly menu

Prepping, creating, packaging, labeling Grab N Go meals

Fast vegetable food prep

May have to visit farmers/farmers markets to source fresh produce

Retail shop sales - being knowledgeable and passionate about our products

Sanitation of Equipment

Helping in different areas of fermented food production for example, labeling bottles and jars, bottling water kefir, jarring sauerkraut

Minimum Qualifications:

You are able to follow directions and complete projects in a time efficient manner

You have excellent organizational skills

You are comfortable with basic math

You enjoy selling our products to a group of very passionate customers

Knowledge of fermented foods and the health benefits

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma/GED
