Butcher/ Meat Cutter

As a Butcher at The Local General Store, you will be at the cutting edge of whole animal butchery in Hawaii. You will work with whole carcass beef, pork, venison, lamb, and chicken from local ranchers. Using knives, saws, meat grinders and other tools, you will break each carcass down, weigh and portion a variety of raw cuts of meat while following Department of Health sanitation guidelines. With this meat, you will also be creating an eye-catching display to entice customers. You must also be willing to carve out time to engage with customers about our meats and what sets us apart. Job Duties:

Breakdown whole carcasses into case ready retail cuts

Able to work with knives, meat band saw, meat slicer, and meat grinder

Maintaining a clean and fully stocked display case

Assist customers with meat orders

Answer incoming phone calls and assist customers with their needs

Take and fulfill meat orders

Receive inventory and ingredients

Refill supplies when needed

Maintain an organized and clean work station

Qualifications and requirements:

Must be at least 18 years of age

High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience

2 years previous restaurant/cooking experience, preferred but not required

1 year of previous meat cutting/packing preferred but not required

Must be able to frequently lift, maneuver and/carry up to 75 pounds

Must have TB Clearance

Must have Food Handlers Certification (can be obtained after hiring)

Able to work weekends
