OR Assistant (Call-In, Varied Shifts)

JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for transporting patients, assisting with patient preps and positioning, and performing other duties such as processing instruments, restocking supplies, and cleaning equipment according to prescribed procedures.II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Essential: standing, walking, stooping/bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, squatting, twisting body, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking, lifting weight up to 19 pounds; transporting patients on gurneys; carrying usual weight of 25 pounds; reaching above, at and below shoulder level, repetitive arm/hand motions, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods, frequent gripping of an object. Occasional: sitting, crawling, walking on uneven ground. Operates razor, clippers, restraints, gurneys, mop or housekeeping equipment, ice machine, addressograph, pneumatic tube, autoclave, ICU beds, hypothermia unit/pad, Sequential Compression stockings and unit, Baer Hugger, Roller, Bovie unit/pencil, telephone, slider.III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions. Exposure to blood products, body fluids, secretions, patient diseases, chemicals and materials typical in surgery.IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE: Ability to read, speak and understand English. General academic background necessary to understand basic asepsis and sterile techniques. Current certification in BLS/HCP.B. EXPERIENCE: Experience as transporter and/or patient care preferred.
