Join us.Job DescriptionOur AECOM Honolulu office is currently seeking a Jr level Environmental Geologist, with 2 years of experience, to support field operations for environmental investigations, remediation implementation and performance monitoring for various DOD clients in Pacific. The ideal candidate will have prior experience drilling, soil logging, well installation and soil, groundwater and vapor sample collection. Additionally, this candidate will be willing and able to learn new skills on challenging field assignments in a team work environment.Tasks will include:
Performs standard scientific work requiring application of techniques and procedures.
Detects problems when using standardized procedures because of the condition of sample, difficulties with the equipment, etc.
Conducts specific phases of projects for more experienced scientists.
Proposes appropriate analytical methods and techniques. Assists in providing advice and consulting services within scope of scientific knowledge.
Draws conclusions and makes recommendations based on analysis.
Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
Works under general supervision.
QualificationsMinimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Soil Scientist, or closely related field and (2+) two years of experience in environmental consulting and or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Valid driver’s license.
US Citizen, for access to DoD project sites
Ability to travel at least 10% of the time
Must successfully pass preemployment background check
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to successfully obtain a DBIDs pass to gain access to any required federal military installation site locations
Master’s Degree in geology, environmental science and Environmental Engineering
PhD in Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering or related discipline.
Experience military emergency response and environmental projects
Effective oral and written communication skills
Experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint) and preparing technical reports.
Experience using ArcGIS and generating maps and report figures.
Additional InformationOffered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications.
