Bed Controller - Bed Control (Full Time, 40, Varied Shifts)

RESPONSIBILITIESI. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinates admission, transfer and discharge for inpatients and outpatients, ensuring timely access to services. Indicates clinical and financial screening for appropriateness of acute care admissions. Works with physicians, other facilities, nursing and other healthcare providers to accommodate admissions and special requests.II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Essential: sitting, seeing, hearing, speaking. Frequent: reaching above, at and below shoulder level, repetitive arm/hand motions, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods, frequent gripping of an object. Occasional: standing, walking, stooping/bending, climbing stairs, squatting, twisting body. Operates copier, printer, computer, TDD machine, pneumatic tube system, facsimile, embossers.III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions. Some exposure to communicable diseases. Work pace varies and is frequently stressful due to census, patient account types and time frames.IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE: High school education or equivalent.B. EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years in admitting, business services, scheduling or a related area in an acute care facility comparable to the Medical Center.
