For the past 25-years, the Maui Hero Project has provided transformational, adventure-based, therapeutic, rites of passage experiences to youth and adults. Our efforts are now focused on Maui Wildfire youth survivors in the Upcountry and Lahaina areas. We are a for-profit company working in partnership with a nonprofit organization.
Our work environment includes:
20hrs each week in outdoor settings
Work-from-home days
Most weekends off
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and facilitate adventure-therapy activities for youth ages 12-18, such as hiking, fishing, snorkeling, archery, camping, wilderness survival skills, first responder skills, Hawaiian cultural experiences
- Maintain and organize recreational equipment
- Manage social media accounts and the production of related content
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders in areas affected by the Maui wildfires
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., social work, psychology, human services, Hawaiian culture, or recreation) OR related experience in Hawaii outdoor skills and other activities as mentioned above.
- Experience in social media platforms including, marketing, video editing, digital graphic art, website development, etc
- Experience working with youth
- Clear-minded, conscious, serious but playful personality
- Strong administrative and organizational skills
- Knowledge of behavioral health principles and interventions
Job Type: Full-time
Expected hours: 40 per week
