Sunshine School a small private non-profit preschool in Kailua established in 1978. Our reputation in the community is one of excellence in Early Childhood Education. The school mission is Empowering children to believe "I can" through rich learning experiences in a safe and nurturing environment. Sunshine School is located right along the Kawainui marsh providing a space surrounded by nature. We have active and supportive families that are a valuable part of our program.

Preschool Teachers require one of the following DHS requirements:
Option 1- Degree in early childhood or child development from an accredited college or university; 6 months of experience working with children (Experience must be in an early childhood education or related setting)
Option 2- Bachelor Degree (any field) from an accredited college or university; 12 credits in early childhood and/or child development; 6 months of experience working with children (Experience must be in an early care & education related setting)
Option 3- Bachelor Degree (elementary education) from an accredited college or university; 6 credits in early childhood and/or child development; 6 months of experience working with children ( Experience must be in an early care & education related setting)
Option 4- 60 credits in a degree program; Certificate in Early Childhood (16 credits);1 year supervised teaching experience (Experience must be in an early care & education related setting)
Option 5- CDA (Child Development Associate Credential) ; 1 year supervised teaching
