Hawaii Technology Academy, a public charter school, seeks candidates for the position of Middle School Math Teacher (Waipahu Campus) for the second semester of the 2024-2025 school year. This is a long-term substitute math teacher posting. A curriculum and lessons will be prepared, but an ideal candidate will work to modify and create their own lessons.
Candidates should have:
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Math, Science, or Education;
- A Hawaii State Teacher’s license is preferred but not mandatory.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Providing online and face to face instruction to students in grade 7 & 8 math courses, pre-algebra and algebra;
- Preparing courses and designing project-based lessons;
- Serving as a middle school advisor;
- Holding tutoring sessions with individual students and small groups;
- Organizing subject-specific field trips and projects;
- Designing enrichment workshops;
- Researching and developing best practices in blended learning Math curricula for middle school students;
- Working collaboratively with the administration and the Lahaina team; and
- Engaging in face-to-face community building, instructional events, field studies, and professional development as needed or directed.
Flexibility, creativity, and innovation stand at the heart of HTA’s program so the ideal candidate will be versatile in terms of skill sets and pedagogical approach to teaching and learning and will preferably have experience in creating and delivering face-to-face and virtual courses.
