Elective Instructor - Circus
Seaview Community School

Summary:
Plans, organizes and implements appropriate elective instruction in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their potential. Creates and delivers instruction for the elective curriculum. Develops and expands curriculum in a creative way. Monitors student progress. Communicates with students and parents. Works to create a school culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, teamwork and high performance.
Education, Experience and Qualifications:
Prior experience teaching electives.
Relevant experience working with school age children.
Experience managing students in a group setting.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Minimum of two years’ experience working with children ages 5-11
Skills in 3 or more of the following areas: tumbling and beginning gymnastics, juggling, basic magic tricks, clowning, unicycle, stilt walking, aerial silks, kondoma, staff and poi spinning, and hula hooping
Strong organizational and verbal communication skills
Ability to produce and direct student performances
Strong awareness of safety and risk management related to circus arts
Must be ethical and honest. Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, time management, follow-through, and oral and written communication skills. Must be extremely flexible and able to work independently.
Must be knowledgeable and comfortable working with technology and software programs, and be able to acquire additional skills for use of software, databases or other information systems as necessary.
Must be able to meet professional obligations through effective work habits such as: meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating resources in an effective and timely manner, and demonstrating respect for others. Must be able to successfully analyze information, manage complexity, report results, enter data, and observe school and state policies as well as state and federal laws with attention to detail, confidentiality, and thoroughness. Must accept responsibility and be self-motivated. Must maintain a high level of confidentiality with regard to employees, students and parents and work effectively with school staff, district personnel, and the general public.
