Job Description:
The Director of Operations plans, coordinates and controls all food production processes. Through direct supervision of the production process flow, from raw materials to finished product,
the Director of Operations will ensure all products are produced safely, cost-effectively and on time and that they meet all the required quality standards.
The Director of Operations demonstrates strict adherence to the principles of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points and Preventive Measures. Essential job functions are to ensure that all the food production activities at the facility are compliant with the policies, procedures, guidelines and requirements of the Food Safety Plan thereof.
The Director of Operations will be involved in the pre-production (planning) stage, production (control and supervision) stage, finishing (packaging) stage, as well as the delivery staging process.
The Director of Operations may also be involved with product research and development, and purchasing.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
Application of the Principles of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP)

General Duties
o Supervise production team to manage and execute production projects.
o Coordinate with other departments to develop production plans and timelines.
o Work with the team to plan, schedule and perform production activities.
o Assign daily workload to team members.
o Develop production programs and guidelines to support company objectives.
o Monitor equipment maintenance and inspection on a daily basis.
o Suggest process improvements to enhance production quality and capacity.
o Organize job trainings to team members to achieve production goals.
o Investigate production issues and develop resolutions.
o Determine equipment, material and manpower requirements for project execution.
o Develop project budget and maintain expenses within the budget.
o Recommend cost reduction initiatives while maintaining quality standards.
o Assist in employee recruitment, performance evaluation, promotion, retention and termination activities.
o Monitor production activities and adjust schedules for on-time delivery.
o Ensure that final product meets quality standards and customer specifications.
o Ensure that team follows company policies, safety standards and other elements of the Food Safety Plan.
o Implement the company's policies and goals.
o Supervise and motivate a team of workers.
o Review worker performance and identify training needs.
Other Duties:
o Training new hires of the production department. All new hires are to be trained and tested in cGMP's, sanitation, safety and hygiene standards.
o Continued education on food safety programs for all production staff. The Director of Operations will refer to the Quality Assurance Manager monthly topics and supporting documents.
o Membership in the Food Safety Committee
Requirements:
5 or more years of experience in food preparation, food production or related field.
Highly proficient knowledge in sanitation, safety and hygiene standards.
Leadership skills. Demonstrated abilities to direct the team successfully utilizing the application of established policies, systems, tools and equipment.
Education, Training, Skills and Experience:
Read, write, and comprehend the English language.
Proficient writing skills.
Proficient communication skills, (both oral and written).
Basic mathematic skills, (add, subtract, multiple, divide).
Basic computer skills (typing, basic hardware and peripheral troubleshooting).
Proficient in word processing, spreadsheet, PDF, email and scanning software.
Food Safety Management certification is highly preferred.
Physical Challenges:
Repetitive tasks for extended periods.
Standing in place for extended periods.
Lift and carry at least 50 lbs occasionally.
Lift and carry at least 25 lbs occasionally.
Extended interface time with computer activities.
Occasional exposure to temperatures of 32° Fahrenheit and less.
Occasional mobility up and down single flight of stairs.
