Position DescriptionSerco is in search of an exceptionally skilled and experienced Data Science Engineer , possessing in-depth expertise in SAP Business Warehouse (BW) and SAP Process Integration/Process Orchestration (PI/PO). The ideal candidate will undertake the critical responsibilities of designing, developing, and maintaining sophisticated data warehousing and integration solutions. This role demands a highly committed and proficient Data Engineer to contribute significantly to the mission of Air University. The incumbent will be integral in closely collaborating with both academic and military personnel. The focus will be to create and sustain advanced data architecture, analytics, and machine learning solutions. These technological advancements are essential in supporting the comprehensive educational and research objectives of Air University, playing a pivotal role in enhancing our strategic data capabilities.This position is contingent upon your ability to maintain/transfer your DoD Secret clearance.Air University, headquartered at Maxwell AFB, Alabama, is a key component of the Air Education and Training Command (AETC). AU is dedicated to providing comprehensive Air Force education, from precommissioning programs for new officers to specialized military discipline graduate programs and professional military development. You will be part of a team of programmers working closely with the customer and other Serco teams to deliver quality data architecture, analytics and machine learning.This position assists with tasks necessary to acquire and integrate data and develop a scalable technical architecture necessary to enable consumption of prepared datasets at multiple security classification levels up to Secret classifications. Additionally, our Software Engineer supports the development of services relating to well-managed coordination between data originators and data system owners as necessary to acquire or connect to the SAP Business Warehouse (BW) and SAP Process Integration/Process Orchestration (PI/PO) processes. Design, develop, and maintain data warehousing and integration solutions, specifically with expertise in SAP Business Warehouse (BW) and SAP Process Integration/Process Orchestration (PI/PO).

Assist in the transformation of raw data into formats suitable for analysis, ensuring compliance with the Federal OPEN Data Act.

Develop a scalable technical environment architecture for data consumption by various user communities, leveraging data from multiple sources to maximize its effectiveness.

Provide technical advisory, education, and training services in data preparation and analytics, ensuring data is transformed effectively for decision-making purposes.

Evaluate new data science and analytics products for integration into the AU data environment.

Establish best practices in data environment development and system sustainment, enabling data-driven decisions at all levels.

Support complex data analytics using advanced mathematical techniques to improve operational effectiveness and support strategic decision-making.

Develop dynamic data visualizations and dashboards to support commanders and decision-makers across the Air Force Enterprise.

Participate in research and development efforts to enhance analytics capabilities, incorporating machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques where appropriate.

Engage in the continuous improvement of data management processes, ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance with relevant regulations.

QualificationsTo be successful in this role, you will have:

U.S. Citizenship

An active DoD Secret clearance

Bachelor’s degree in software engineering/integration, computer programming, or data analytics/science

4 years of experience as a software engineer, software integrator, data analyst/scientist, or computer programmer

4 years of combined experience with Python, SAP, and Object-Oriented Database solutions

Proven experience in data engineering, with a focus on data architecture, analytics, and machine learning

Strong organizational and communication skills

The ability to travel up to 25%
