License and Certification Qualifications: Georgia teacher certification required.Education Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in applicable field of education from a Professional Standards Commission (PSC) approved college or university required.Experience Qualifications: No prior experience necessary. Experience recognized on salary schedule.Skills Qualifications: Up-to-date knowledge of applicable sports; ability to teach desirable traits of character; ability to organize and implement related sports programs; ability to maintain a harmonious relationship with other staff members and community support groups; knowledge of safety practices; knowledge of Gwinnett County Public Schools policies and procedures; effective instructional practices; ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office and school based staff, students, parents, and the community; excellent oral and written communication skills; and excellent human relations skills.Primary Responsibilities: Responsible for executing program objectives and instructing students in the fundamental skills and knowledge of the sport.1. Organize and supervise the squad of cheerleaders.2. Attend and supervise all practices and related events.3. Ensure inventory of all cheerleading equipment.4. Ensure arrangement for transportation to all athletic events.5. Promote positive sportsmanship in student life and conduct.6. Work with the band director and other members of the coaching staff to develop worthwhile cheerleading activities.7. Comply with any reasonable oral or written directive of the principal or other appropriate administrator.8. Conduct and organize cheerleading try-outs after written process is approved by principal and signed-off on by candidates and parents of candidates.9. Draft an updated constitution dealing with policies, practices, grades, money, discipline, etc. each year for approval of the principal. 10. Work with booster groups where appropriate.11. Perform other duties as assigned. Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. Employee is also required to talk, hear, stand, and walk. The employee may be required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, and/or reach. Employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
